Typically this course runs with around 10-12 students. Suitable for all abilities including beginners.
Please bring: whatever watercolour painting materials you have - a good selection of watercolour paints and mixing pallette (if not available to you, venue could supply white china plates), Daler Rowney Acrylic Inks in both Paynes Grey, & also Sepia. Good quality watercolour paper or pad (at least 300g with a rough finish, or cold pressed, preferable not 'Hot pressed' as it's too smooth), a small piece of white candle, brushes small & large, including a rigger and a sword liner brush, a small thin pallette knife, thick cheap cartridge paper, a waterproof ink pen. Kahdi paper if you already have some (it's expensive) and a large water container. The venue can supply smaller water containers/ jam jars etc if you dont have, plus kitchen roll. Lyn may be able to supply Kahdi paper and small amounts of the two above Acrylic Inks for a few £'s on the morning as needed.
About the Artist I have painted throughout most of my life, from my years at Sunderland Art College to the present day, I’m inspired mostly by the more unusual colours of nature. The early morning or late evening light, particularly during the Autumn months, is a favourite. I paint in oil, pastel and watercolours, each one bringing a different quality to the work. So often it is the subject that will dictate the medium used. Pastel is unsurpassed for colour and texture while oils excel in quality and the ability to move or blend.
