Introduction to Photography ~ One day Beginners' workshop with Danielle Ledbury

Introduction to Photography ~ One day Beginners' workshop with Danielle Ledbury

9.30am-4.00pm
£115 inc lunch etc.  (deposit £15)

One day Beginners' workshop ~ Learn essential knowledge and practical skills to improve your photography with Danielle Ledbury.

This is a one day beginner's course that gives you the opportunity to learn in a fun practical way, it is a mixture of classroom based tutorials, practical demonstrations and hands on practice with your own camera. Over the day you will build an understanding of your camera's functions and confidence in how to use them to create great images. We like to keep the group size small to ensure that you have lots of help and opportunity for 1-2-1 support.

On arrival you can sit down with a tea/coffee and we will go through your cameras and discuss features. Then in the morning session will talk through each of the various settings and aspects of photography in small bite sized pieces and practical exercises for you to test out with your own camera. Then after lunch (provided) we will head out and about (weather permitted) and develop your photography skills further discussing composition techniques and learning to see creatively. You will be able to practice and receive some 1-2-1 coaching. There will be lots of opportunity to ask questions and don’t worry if it all feels like a lot on the day, you will also receive hand out notes for you to take home. Please note this course is focused on beginners and really getting to grips with the techniques rather than a photo tour.  On the course we will cover:

  • Camera functions: Aperture f-stop, Shutter Speed, ISO, priority modes
  • Image quality (ISO and file formats)
  • Exposure triangle and compensation
  • White balance
  • Creative compositional techniques
  • Camera equipment and gear choices
  • Learning to see creatively

Dates for this course - see the table below to book:

Saturday 22nd April 2023

Typically this course runs with max 5 students, we keep the numbers small so there can be lots of opportunity for plenty of 1-2-1 time. Suitable for beginners. Please note personal insurance is not included. This is a collaborative workshop, once you have paid your deposit we willl forward your details to Danielle who will collect the balance.

Please bring: You will need a camera, tripod, memory card, fully charged battery and USB lead (if you have one) and anything else you personally want to use. If you don’t have something please don’t worry, contact Danielle to ask any questions prior to the course on equipment you may have.About the Artist  This lovely local photographer has over 8 years experience working as a qualified photography teacher and freelance photographer for individuals, companies and weddings. After completing her degree in photography she set up and ran various photography courses in schools. Danielle has also curated photographic exhibitions for Photography festivals together with exhibiting her own work. Her own work often looks at narratives linked to place, she self-published a photobook on the mysterious Government facility ‘Site 3’ and is currently working on a new photobook based here in the lake district.
