PUBLIC TRANSPORT to GREYSTOKE
BUS Connections to Greystoke resume on 31 March ’25
We are delighted that students will again be able to take a bus from Penrith to Greystoke in time for a Quirky Workshop start time of 9.30am/ 10am.
Departs central Penrith Bus Station at 08.55am or
Penrith Railway station at 09.00
The bus stops in the centre of the village at Greystoke Cross at 09.18am, in good time for the 09.30 Quirky Workshop starts. If your course starts at 10am you can enjoy a coffee at the pub or enjoy a wander around the village.
This service is most welcome news after an absence of bus connections to the village for many years, and we would encourage as many people as possible to use this new facility.
Return buses are available as below depending on school timetable, it is often the case that many other students are returning towards Penrith at the end of the course and will happily provide transport back should a suitable bus be unavailable.

DRIVING TO GREYSTOKE
We only have limited parking in our driveway and ask all who can to park in the Greystoke village car as below, and help us preserve the character of the village.
New Parking Info
After your journey, please allow an extra 7-10 minutes to stretch your legs and enjoy the 350yd walk from the Greystoke village car park (free) to your class. There are two walking routes, both are flat and involve some roads, we recommend Option 1.
- Pink dashes on map … Walk right out of the car park and after 75yds the footpath starts under the road sign by the stream. Take the path keeping the stream on your left. (see below photo of the footpath view)
- Alternatively, from the car park, turn left and walk to your class via the village green/road with a few sections of footpath and perhaps alongside race horses. Head right from the green following road signs for Blencow.
If you feel unable to walk, please arrange to be dropped off, or let us know so that we can reserve you one of the 2 parking spaces here.
If you’re running late, the postcode for the closest parking is CA11 0TH which will take you to just outside Castle Gardens in Greystoke. There are just 4 roadside parking places some 150 yards before the venue, at the end of a high Castle boundary wall. There is a pavement ‘leading to nowhere’ and the road widens on the left, marked below in pink. The residents of the roadside bungalows prefer to park their cars directly in front of their houses. Please don’t park before the cul-de-sac entrance, or close to the corner splays, which impedes sightlines of those leaving the cul-de-sac. Thank you.
NOTE; as you near the venue the footpath disappears and you will approach a corner. Contrary to Highway Code guidance, PLEASE, PLEASE always walk towards us on the LEFT i.e. the OUTSIDE of the bend. Cyclists & electric cars often speed around this blind bend from the north. On this blind corner it’s potentially very dangerous to walk facing the traffic.
