'Three Cushion Workshop' with Julie Evans

Scatter cushions are a lovely  way to add colour or create harmony within a room.  By making them yourself you can mix and match your fabrics, add trims, buttons and other embellishments to make them completely bespoke.  In this workshop we will be making up three cushions in a variety of ways that will allow you to explore and develop your ideas at home.

The first will have an envelope opening combined with a narrow Oxford border. You may wish to bring a large button/toggle to add as a decorative feature. The opening can be placed on the front or the back of the cushion.

The second will have an inset trim on the sides and zip fastening along the bottom. This can work well with a plain fabric and contrasting trim.

The third will have a large flanged border and the cushion inner will be machine sewn into it. You may wish to bring a couple of buttons or toggles so that we can inset these into the centre of the cushion.

Along the way we will look at pattern placement, positioning regular and irregular stripes, dealing with velvets and cutting bias strips for piping.
