A botanically themed canvas of Paint Print and stitch with Kay Leech
A lovely day with Kay being guided through the process pf creating using paint, then print,and stitch. Working in mixed media you will create a picture based on flowers, you can bring your own image or use one of the ones provided for inspiration.
You will paint the background directly onto calico and then add layers with simple stencils and print blocks that you have created. Finally you will add stitch which can be machine and or hand embroidery and embellish with beads and buttons.
The finished piece will be 30cmx30cm which will fit into a standard 40cmx40cm frame. Kay's work centres on textured pieces using paint, print and collage coupled with hand and machine embroidery with stitch on textiles.

Kindly note there will be a materials charge payable directly to the tutor on the day of £10 for the materials used. Typically this course runs with 7-8 students. Suitable for all abilities inc. beginners.
Please bring: There will be a £10 materials charge payable directly to Kay on the day which includes everything for painting, printing, stencilling and beads to embellish. Please bring any references you may have as inspiration and also an apron to protect your clothes. A sewing machine would also be useful but not obligatory. All equipment and tools will be provided
About the Artist Kay is a local artist has recently exhibited at Higham Hall near Cockermouth as Artist in Residence. Her passions are colour and texture. Working in mixed media textiles enables her to create highly textured works using paint, print and collage coupled with hand and machine embroidery. She has been exhibiting for three years and displayed in local exhibitions, galleries and the Scottish Quilting Show.
