Hand Stitch a Leather Bag in a day with Ruth Pullan
This workshop will give you the basic skills needed for leather work and at the same time you will make yourself a lovely bag using pre cut leather panels carefully prepared by Ruth. There will also be an option to dye the panels various colours using stains provided by Ruth.
You will learn how to:
- dye and condition natural vegetable tanned leather
- stitch using the two needle traditional saddler's stitch
- bevel and burnish raw edges for a professional finish
- fit buckles and fastenings
Please note that this workshop will take place in a first floor studio up a flight of stairs.

Kindly note there will be a materials charge payable directly to the tutor on the day, of £40 (the cost of leather has increased dramatically over recent months) . Typically this course runs with around 8 students and is suitable for beginners.
Please bring: All materials are provided by the tutor however, it is recommended that you bring along an apron to protect your clothing in the dying process. Please remember some cash for your materials to pay Ruth on the day.
About the Artist Leather worker Ruth Pullan specialises in creating hand stitched bags and accessories using high quality British materials.
