A fascinating day with Deborah learning how to create your own botanical contact prints with real leaves on fabric and paper and make your own unique silk scarf.

In this workshop, suitable for all abilities, freshly collected leaves will be wrapped in pure silk, cotton and paper before being steamed to release their natural dyes and tannins in an eco friendly process.

Deborah will lead you step by step from the preparation of the fabric, the choosing and placement of suitable leaves through to the techniques needed to produce clear and lasting natural leaf prints.

Kindly note, there will be a materials charge payable directly to the tutor on the day of £30 to cover for the materials used and the pre mordanted silks etc. Typically this course runs with 9-10 students.

Please bring: Please wear comfortable closed in shoes (not open sandals) and work clothes. Feel free to bring any leaves you wish to try printing especially geraniums, maples, cotinus, rose, tamarisk, dogwood and blackberry.  Medium sized gloves will be provided but please bring your own if you prefer. All equipment and prepared fabrics are included.

 About the Artist Originally from NewZealand Deborah is an experienced arts teacher living and working in Lancashire and the Lake District.  After falling in love with Botanical Printing she has trained and practiced extensively along with selling, teaching and exhibiting throughout the North West.  Her work is a celebration of the infinite beauty of nature.
