Part of a Long Weekend of Watercolours and Charcoal, with Sarah Stokes
'A Puffin Tryptych ' ~ A Two-Day Expressive Watercolour' Workshop with Sarah Stokes - all abilities.
Create a beautiful triptych of three puffins, each painted on its own panel, using a range of exciting and expressive watercolour techniques.
During this workshop, you’ll learn how to:
Use salt to create wonderful textures in rocks.
Discover the subtle colours hidden within white feathers.
Use wet-into-wet techniques to create soft, dreamy backgrounds.
Capture the shine, character and distinctive markings of puffins.
Simplify complicated reference photographs into loose, expressive paintings without getting bogged down in detail.
You’ll create three individual paintings that work beautifully together as a coordinated triptych, whilst learning techniques you can apply to your own wildlife paintings.
Finished size: Three rectangular panels, each approximately 12 × 27 cm, arranged together within an A3-sized composition.
Materials: All materials and reference photographs are provided, including professional-quality watercolours and beautiful 100% cotton watercolour paper.
You’ll leave with three lovely pieces of artwork and plenty of new techniques to experiment with at home.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have:
