Painting Iconic Lakeland Landscapes in Watercolours '.....The Jaws of Borrowdale from Derwentwater '...  Step by Step with Mark Bradley

Many of our regular students will know Mark for his fabulous Ceramic Hare, Fox and Green Man workshops here in Greystoke which are hugely popular.

Interestingly though, Mark is also a watercolourist and has agreed to offer some Lakeland Landscape workshops,  painting the most iconic of our Lakeland Views

Mark will start the morning taking you through the relevant Watercolour techniques that will be used over the day in creation of this landscape - 'the wash', the 'wet on wet', 'wet on dry', 'lifting off 'etc. etc.    ......and everyone will create their own imaginary view of 'a lake and fells, with water trees and skies' using these techniques.

Towards the end of the morning, the iconic view of the 'Jaws of Borrowdale from Derwentwater',  is then roughly sketched out by the students (each student will have one of Mark's finished laminated A4 paintings as reference ) and Mark will check each student has achieved the correct composition.

After lunch you'll begin your final painting - being guided, step by step through the Watercolour painting process to create your own version of this iconic Landscape.

Mark will paint from the front of the studio and students can remain at their desks painting along, following his instructions and his own version of painting that is on the screen. He will also show you how to correct mistakes and take advantage of, and indeed celebrate , those happy accidents that happen to us all!

Taking place in the first floor Swallow Barn studio, up a flight of fairly steep stairs, this class is suitable for all those who have had some (even if only a little) experience of Watercolours, whether in Pen and Wash or a pure watercolour class.
