Spend a day creating your own traditional Green Man for the Garden with Dave Norman.

A new course for 2019 - an enjoyable day with clay creating your own green man from stoneware pottery under Dave's guidance and expertise.

The sculpture of a face surrounded by or made from leaves where branches or vines may sprout from the mouth, nostrils, or other parts of the face and these shoots may bear flowers or fruit. Such sculptures in bygone days were commonly used as a decorative architectural ornament, frequently found in carvings on both secular and ecclesiastical buildings.

Kindly note there will be a materials charge payable directly to the tutor on the day, of approx. £20 depending on the materials used. Typically this course runs with around 9 students. Suitable for Beginners.

Please bring:  There will be a £20 materials cost payable to the tutor on the day which will include the clay, the firing cost.  We will notify you when your piece has been returned to Quirky Workshops and is ready for collection. Alternatively Dave could post the piece directly to you for an extra charge.

 

 

About the tutor: Dave Norman Studied at the Glasgow School of Art, and then ran his own studio in Scotland, producing large architectural ceramics for several years. After 14 years teaching ceramics in tertiary education he established a new studio in North Cumbria producing thrown slip decorated wares and these beautiful raku pieces, sold locally in galleries.
