Wire Sculptures 'Ducks or Hens' with Chris Moss

Wire Sculptures 'Ducks or Hens' with Chris Moss

Sculpt a life size wire Hen or Duck for your Garden with Chris Moss

Spend a day with talented wire sculpture artist, Chris Moss and learn how to create one of these fabulous Ducks or Hens (or maybe even a Pheasant) out of chicken wire.  Under Chris's expert guidance you can add your own character and attitude whilst creating your finished life sized sculpture. These birds will last for years in or out, will need 'neither food nor vet' and won't trash your garden. Be kind & they might even lay you an egg!  You could spray even them  with coloured car paint (ie from Halfords), weave in red highlights for combs or leave as a lovely faded silver to last for years.

If the weather is fine we'll try to work in the garden, otherwise the course may take place up a flight of stairs in our new craft room.

PLEASE NOTE: Working with wire is tiring on the hands.  Our wire courses are NOT recommended for anyone suffering from tiredness, muscle fatigue or arthritis of any form.

Dates for this course - see the table below to book:

Chris is currently shielding and of course, Christmas Day 2022 is not a real workshop date. We've simply chosen a date sufficiently far in the future to use for a waiting list option whilst waiting for the Covid situation to improve.  Once life has returned to much nearer to normal, a vaccine has been proven safe and a wider confidence returns,  then we very much hope to welcome Chris back to Greystoke. We will first contact all those on this waiting list with a date.

Typically this course runs with around 10 students. Kindly note material charges payable to the tutor on the day . Hens and Ducks are £10 per bird

Please bring:  Please remember to bring some flexible gardening gloves and an apron to protect your clothes, wire can snag.   Chris will bring pliers for everyone. Please bring your £10 materials money.

About the Artist Chris moss' wire sculptures reflect her interest in the natural world, in particular wild and domestic birds and beasts ranging in size from wrens to horses. She exhibits around the UK including the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and works extensively to private commission. She enjoys passing on her techniques, tips and tricks to others wanting to try out this sculpture medium to create their own garden or home ornament.

ZERO SPACES?  It's possible there are plenty available, but bookings are not yet open for this date.  Please view the 'photo label' on the 'FULL PROGRAMME' page to check status of each date.  Join the 'tell me when/waiting' list to be told as soon as spaces appear.
