Mosaics with Julie Gibson .... create a framed Mosaic piece of wall Art and also Glass Mosaic Silver Heart Pendant, both in a day (*or squares, if you prefer!)

Over first coffees Julie will run through the plan for the day and the process of creating mosaic design, familiarizing you with the various tools and processes to be used over the day, the planning out and preparing the base. She brings with her many lovely pieces of ceramics and glass resources for you to use, as well as interesting finds like pebbles or beads etc plus some of her own work that she has brought along to help with inspiration.

Students will learn how to cut glass and design a pleasing balanced Mosaic picture, using the lovely coloured pieces to best advantage. You may choose either abstract design or something stylised, such a flower etc. and carefully assemble by hand your pieces over the day under Julie's watchful eye. Finally, you'll be able to mount your unique mosaic 6x6" heart in a picture frame of 8x8", ready to hang on the wall. Such a piece would normally sell for about £80.

Whilst your first mosaics piece is setting, you can use various smaller pieces to create a beautiful heart pendant on a silver base in the colours of your choice. Each mosaic will be grouted, cleaned and polished to finish, before the larger is mounted in the frame. Everyone goes home with a finished piece of art ready to hang and their own piece of jewellery.

Kindly note there will be a materials charge payable directly to the tutor on the day, if approx £25-30 which includes all your materials and frames. Typically this course runs with 8 to 9 students. Suitable for all abilities inc. beginners.

Please bring: An apron to protect your clothes  and any glasses needed for close design work. All equipment and tools will be provided.

 About the Artist Julie Gibson is a Mosaic Artist living in Cumbria.  She loves to use beautiful reflective glass, Italian Millefiori, ceramics and various unusual finds in her work.  Julie finds her inspiration from her love of nature, flowers and the Cumbrian Landscape.  She creates wall art in various sizes from a small tile or heart to very large designs....as well as a recent new range of Mosaic jewellery.  Each Mosaic is made by hand and is completely unique.  She sells her beautiful pieces on Etsy under the name of JulieGibsonMosaics (where you can see more examples of her lovely pendants in various shapes, as well as her unique mosaic wall art)
