Another day with lovely local tutor Margaret Jarvis for the next stages of Pen & Wash in Nature
The starkness and simplicity of Pen and Wash comes alive with the addition of a water colour wash. This day is for those who have some grounding in Pen and Wash (you may have taken Margaret's Beginners course previously) and so providing a chance for more practice under Margaret's gentle guidance, looking at how to put a composition together and including how to apply pen work to your watercolours as well as water and washes to intricate pen work; both yielding very different results.
This day will touch on colour mixing and using watercolours and it combines the subtle variable nature of the watercolour wash with finer detail picked out in black ink pen, allowing the artist different effects in shading and textures. The type of ink pens used - its water solubility and also stippling intensity and textures employed create a vast range of effects
