For now, lock down has necessitated a change in the way she works and she is commencing Online Calligraphy tuition to small groups using Zoom. Details are below of her new November group sessions. She is also offering bespoke and 1:1 online sessions.

 ‘Modern’ Pointed Pen Cursive     Thursday or Saturday Mornings

This currently very popular script is a hybrid between the more difficult traditional copperplate and italic handwriting and is particularly useful for invitations, greetings cards, envelopes etc. As well as attractive one-off pieces of calligraphy with quotations. Suitable for all levels, inc' beginners

 ‘Learning Basic Italic Script      Thursday or Saturday Afternoons

Italic is one of the most beautiful and useful scripts for calligraphers. First developed during the Renaissance, there are many variations possible once basics are learned. Suitable for Beginners or near Beginners.

Topics for further zoom courses include: uncial, foundational hand, italic, Carolingian, versals, Roman capitals, italic capitals, flourishes, copperplate. Courses can be offered at beginner/near beginner level or at more advanced levels. Please contact Gaynor with any requests for particular courses. 1-2-1 tuition also available.

 About the Artist    ‘Gaynor Goffe is one of the UK’s foremost calligraphers and tutors, having taught internationally for four decades. Gaynor has worked with calligraphy since 1974 and has taught many of today’s most prominent calligraphers.

 Gaynor is particularly interested in the more personal, creative aspect of calligraphy, working with painted backgrounds, gold leaf and collage, and experimenting with capitals and cursive scripts. She has written two calligraphy books:'Calligraphy Made Easy' Parragon/Robinson and 'Calligraphy Step-by-Step' (with Anna Ravenscroft) Harper Collins (titled 'Calligraphy School' overseas). She is a long-standing fellow of the Calligraphy & Lettering Arts Society and the Society of Scribes & Illuminators, and works to commission and for exhibition. Her own typeface ‘Hamada’ was released by Linotype in 2007.
