Create exciting Cyanotype Prints in the Cumbrian sunshine with Kim Tillyer
During this fascinating day with Kim you will learn about the history and technical process of cyanotype and proceed to coat papers and/or material to create unique prints (using objects from the garden, stencils or prepared negatives) and watch as the sunlight magically develops your works of art.
The Cyanotype process involves painting with a light sensitive emulsion onto paper or fabric - and using our clear Cumbrian sunlight to develop the image.
Different layers are achieved using varied exposure times and hand drawn imagery, and prepared stencils, with native plants acting as a resist.
The results are different every time so each print is a unique monotype.
Wed 4th August 2021
Kindly note there will be a materials charge payable directly to the tutor on the day of approx. £10. Typically this course runs with around 7 students.
Please bring: All equipment and tools will be provided. However, if you wish to bring along your own special sketch book quality paper, watercolour papers, natural fabric pieces or any flat objects that could inspire you (for example lace, keys, feathers, flowers, etc. to use as a resist) then that would be good too. Do remember to bring an apron to protect your clothes as well any special gloves you might need (non allergic). Protective glasses would be helpful too.
