Experiment with various types of ink and a gentle bleach solution to create some unique cards for Christmas.

“Accidental’ reactions between both mediums create dramatic landscape and sky effects, or a more controlled approach can be taken to keep the work ‘tight’. The stunning scenery of the Lake District will be our inspiration for the day.

 
Have fun with a variety of clever techniques using various of inks with bleach to create distinctive designs for your Christmas cards. You will explore and experiment with these . Traditional Christmas images (stars, trees, robins, angels, snow scenes etc) will be given a ‘make-over’ when interpreted using ink and bleach techniques to create distinctive and different Christmas card designs

Thursday 28 November Adventures with Ink and Bleach at Christmas 

Kindly note there will be a small materials charge payable directly to the tutor on the day, of approx £5. Typically this course runs with around 9 students.

Please bring:   An apron or wear old clothes, Watercolour paper or good cartridge paper, Any fountain pen ink you may have (quink or similar), Other inks e.g. acrylic ink or brush powdered ink.  Drawing pens – these could be artist drawing pens, fine liners or any other felt tips.  Paint brushes you don’t mind putting in bleach, so not your best sable ones! Pencil.  Wintery landscape images you might want to use as inspiration.   Patsy will bring lots of equipment, so don’t worry if you haven’t got it all.   There may be a small extra charge on the day towards materials. 

 About the Artist Patsy Derry has taught art in schools for over 20 years and to various age groups since. Living now, in the inspirational beauty of the English Lake District, has allowed her to develop her portfolio of painting techniques s and photographs. She likes to work in a variety of mediums, watercolour, pastel, acrylic, ink and bleach, and pencil, developing a distinctive style in each.
