Improvers' Calligraphy 'Exploring variations & textures with capitals' with Gillian Hazeldine.
A series of 4 alternate Monday afternoons suitable for those with some experience of Calligraphy.
This course will take place in the new spacious Swallow Barn complete with camera set up for all tutor demonstrations projected onto a large screen, meaning you can enjoy a live stream of Jilly's every stroke from the comfort and safety of your desk.
Roman capitals are the most important letter form in the history of writing, monumental and impressive in their Trajan form. But they are also capable of almost infinite variation from tall, thin and austere to small, chubby and friendly. Over these four session we will learn or revise the traditional form and then explore variations and weights through playing with textural exercises.
Not suitable for absolute beginners; some experience with the broad-edged pen is necessary.
