Learn this age old skill of creating a solid stone wall without the use of any cement or mortar. Steve (the many times World Champion Dry Stone Waller) will guide you through the setting out & various stages of wall construction. He spends a lot of time in America working with Andy Goldsworthy and will have a lot of knowledge and stories to share. This course is suitable for all abilites.
Dry Stone Walling is physically very demanding. At times the ground is unsafe, uneven and rocky. Stones are heavy, unwieldy and often need lifting to around 3 or 4 ft high.
Only those who are fit to participate should sign up. There will be a safety briefing and you will be asked to sign a disclaimer before the day.
Those with previous or existing back problems or who are pregnant should not consider this day.

Kindly note there will be a materials charge payable directly to the tutor on the day, from approx £15 upwards depending on the materials used.. Typically this course runs with 7 students.

About the Artist Steve is a previous dry stone walling world champion who has worked for Andy Goldsworthy for many years on some of his most famous landscaping projects in the US and the UK. He works professionally throughout Cumbria and the northwest as well as in several Chelsea Show gardens.
